L'Atletico Militello è stato fondato nel 1988 grazie alla determinazione di alcuni volenterosi sportivi (SCICLI, i fratelli NASELLI, FISICHELLA) che hanno sentito il bisogno e la necessità di far rinascere il calcio a Militello dopo il fallimento del grande Sporting che fino ad allora aveva rappresentato in maniera più che degna il paese.

Dopo aver partecipato al suo primo campionato di Terza Categoria (un torneo di assestamento senza molte soddisfazioni), al secondo tentativo (stagione 1989/90, con una bellissima vittoria nello spareggio), l'Atletico Militello è approdato nel campionato di Seconda Categoria. Purtroppo nella stagione successiva 1990/91, l'Atletico è retrocesso portando una nuova crisi per il calcio locale con il rischio di una nuova scomparsa. Struttura e risorse economiche erano infatti insufficienti a fronteggiare le spese di gestione che il club comportava.

In soccorso all'Atletico sono così arrivate forze nuove, come Giuseppe ASTORINA, che assumerà la carica di presidente, Arturo RUSSOTTO, Alfio LAPI, Pippo LO FARO e Francesco LO TAURO.

Al primo tentativo (1991/92) è arrivata subito la PROMOZIONE in 2ª CATEGORIA e una vittoria del campionato ALLIEVI ( il calcio giovanile è rimasto pietra miliare dell'attività dell'Atletico Militello. Nel giugno del 1992, col grande aiuto degli emigrati in Svizzera, l'Atletico Militello ha partecipato al torneo internazionale di Biberist, vincendolo tra l'entusiasmo dei nostri emigrati provenienti anche dalla vicina Francia e Germania.

Negli anni a seguire arriveranno un 2° posto ad un altro torneo internazionale in Svizzera e la partecipazione al torneo internazionale a VERONA (categoria allievi). A seguire l'Atletico Militello ha sfiorato diverse volte la Promozione in 1ª categoria, vincendo per ben 2 volte il campionato ESORDIENTI 1992/93 e 1994/95.

The Athletic Militello has been founded in the 1988 graces to the determination of some willing sportsmen (SCICLI,the brothers Hakes, FISICHELLA) that have felt the need and the necessity to make to revive the football to Militello after the failure of the great Sporting that until then had represented in worthier way the country.

After having participated in first championship of Third Category (a tournament of arrangement without a lot of satisfactions), per second attempt (season 1989/90, with a beautiful victory in the difference), the athletic Militello has landed in the championship of Second Category. Unfortunately in the following season 1990/91, the Athletic is demoted bringing a new crisis for the local football with the risk of a new disappearance. Structure and economic resources were in fact insufficient to face the management expenses that the club involved.

In help to the Athletic are arrived new strengths as Giuseppe ASTORINA, that will assume the position of president, Arturo RUSSOTTO, Alfio LAPI, Pippo Lo Faro and Francesco Lo TAURO.

To the first attempt (1991/92) the Promotion has arrived in immediately 2ª Category and a victory of the championship Allievi (the juvenile football has remained miliary stone of the activity of the Athletic Militello. In June of 1992, with the great help of the emigrants in Switzerland, the Athletic Militello has participated in the international tournament of Biberist also winning it among the enthusiasm of our deriving emigrants from near France and Germany.

In the years to follow they will reach a 2° place to another international tournament in Switzerland and the share the international tournament to Verona (category Allievi). To follow the Athletic Militello has grazed different times the Promotion in 1ª category, winning for well 2 times the championship Debutantes 1992/93 and 1994/95.
