A Caposele, dopo il sisma del 1980, la struttura calcistica fu adibita a villaggio di prefabbricati. Ma molto presto, la passione sportiva dei caposelesi partorì un nuovo impianto calcistico provvisorio .

Nei primi anni post sisma la voglia di calcio cresceva sempre di più e il torneo calcistico locale cominciava ad essere poca cosa per soddisfarla in pieno. I tempi per la nascita di una vera società calcistica, plasmata con tutti i crismi dell'ufficialità, erano ormai maturi, e nel 1983 è nata la U.S. Caposele. Pur non potendo disputare le gare interne sul piccolo campo sportivo locale, l’US Caposele era sostenuta nelle gare interne da un grande tifo fatto di colore e cori assordanti ed era seguita addirittura in trasferta con un autobus per i tifosi adibito dalla società o dagli stessi supporters. Nei primi anni, l’incarico di allenatore fu ricoperto da Generoso Notaro, e nel 1985 la squadra ottenne così la tanto agognata promozione in seconda categoria. La società era ben organizzata, ma forse troppo legata alle tante e grandi figure dirigenziali: il passaggio di categoria creò così i primi problemi. Per poter meglio competere nella categoria superiore si cominciò a tesserare qualche giocatore "forestiero", e a Generoso fu "scippata" la conduzione della prima squadra e fu affidato l’incarico di allenare le squadre giovanili. Il calcio a Caposele cominciava a diventare una questione seria che non poteva lasciare spazio a sentimentalismi e entusiasmi pionieristici.
